I'm having a hard time deciding what spotting scope and tripod I should get for carrying in my pack.
I've never gone backpacking with a spotting scope before, only binocs. I purchased a compact Winchester a few years ago, mainly for checking my targets at the rifle range. I don't really like the tripod that came with it and the optics really are not that great.
Should I just use my cheap Winchester? Is it normal to carry a small tripod while you are hiking/packing? Are larger tripods acceptable to carry in your pack while hunting?
Is there something out there that doesn't cost 1000.00+ that is actually decent?
Thanks,
-Dave
