Brandon, Those are awesome sheds. I think it looks great. It looks like they might sit a little high. You can cut down the pedistal, but to hide the joint better, grind down the butt of the antler flush with the burr. Pretty nice looking for your first attempt.
Mike

Yea, there is no way I will grind down the burr. I am struggling to use epoxy. I like the idea of being able to take them off.

In that case, I would leave just the way they are.
Are you going to hang them on the wall? If so, the burr will hide the joint just with the tilt of the head.
I'm trying to guess where the falls in the back ground are. It's probably a great place to find a huge buck or is that the big one you got last season.
Mike

b tine....those are some truly great sheds. i would never 'grind them down', as i know you wouldn't...i think i would certainly be in the market for a nice cape, though..i am having one of my favorites' (sheds) done now, in a shoulder mount...i'm sure you know which one...when finally done, i'll get ya pics...again, those a great 'finds', and great pics, too...

Here is my attempt with MrB's skulls. i like the way it turned out.
What do you guys think???
thanks MrB.

maybe you could grind down the pedicle on the skull so that you dont have to hurt the antler

LF, I cant wait to see him. I am glad you decided to do that. I am contemplating doing an elk set with a cape.. You doing yours might just put me over the edge.

MrB, This pic is where he will probably stay for now. That waterfall is actually a really good fishing spot. Seeing that pic makes me want to go back :)

200incher, I think it turned out awesome.. way to go man.

CRB, I thought about doing that. Making little sockets.. Thats actually a really good idea.

Wow! 200incher you'll be putting the taxidermists out of business. That looks great. You guys make this look easy. CRB, you are right. The color goes all the way through, so you can cut, grind, or drill large sockets. Hey what ever it takes to make our trophies look their best.
Mike

Looks good guys!

I'll have to order one, or two.

Can you get them with 200" antlers ;)

Hey Brandon,
A product I've used before that has worked very well is all game. Its a two part epoxy that fills in the gaps. you can pain the epoxy as well. I've used it before and its very easy to deal with. Thats what I'm going to do on MrB. reproduction skulls.

I decided to mount up a couple medium size sheds I picked up on a recent hike. Ummmm, well I mean climb, ahh the stairs to find them laying field. I meant to say floor in the meadow, I mean mold.

Ahhh heck, their fake! I made the whole thing up, their plastic OK. It's just that I am jealous of all you guys with your big muley sheds. I just have a bunch of blacktail sheds on my floor in the living room

IdahoBugler, thanks! They are fake, but they exact casted reproduction of the real buck.
Thanks, Mike

MRB THEY LOOK PRETTY GOOD ID LOVE TO LERN HOW TO THAT. IVE BEEN PRETTY GOOD AT PUTTING BACK TOGETHER SOME OF THOSE SKULLS I BOIL OUT. BUT THATS ART, PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT. YOU CAN ALWAYS COME TO AZ AND GET AN ARCHERY TAG AND GET A BIG MULEY. SHARLIN BY THE WAY BEAUTIFUL LIVINGROOM THE WIFE SEEMS TO KEEP THINGS PRETTY CLEAN.

I have been trying different antler mounting systems for people that like to remove their antler quickly. The time to mount them up should be about the same for all three ways, screws, round peg with/set-screw or the square peg. I think for a real tight fit the screws will be the easiest, but there are benifits to all. What do you think?
Sharin, I had to push all of my 6 year old's toys out of the way, so that nobody could see the mess in the picture. Oh and just tie up a monster buck so I will be able to use my 20 yard pin, and I'll be there.
Thanks, Mike

OH I HAVE MORE FAITH IN YOU THAN 20 YARDS AND THAT WIFE KEEPS A REAL CLEAN HOUSE. CANT TIE THEM WILD SUCKERS UP BUT BOY ARE THEY FUN TO CHASE!

Yes, she does a great job with everything around here. OK, make it 30 yards, but that is my final offer.
