Bear Whitetail Hunter

Anybody have any info on this dinosaur of a bow? I've been deer hunting with it for around 2 years. Just new to archery to lengthen my deer season. It's old but with a new string it still shoots good. I'll probably upgrade next year. I've had two shots at deer but the arrow fell off the rest (spooked 'em). Tapped a hole and put on a whisker biscuit (problem solved. Just interested in the background of this bow. Any positive feedback would be appreciated.

Holy Cow that is an old bow. I learned to shoot with an old bear whitetail II about 20 yrs ago. I killed my first deer with one and had a lot of fun shooting it. Good Luck!

"Any positive feedback would be appreciated." Well in the early seventies this bow was state of the art, that would be in the positive category, huh. I can remember as a child ooohing and aaawing over the Bear Whitetail hunter. Depending on the shape it is in, I would put it up after retiring it. It would probably bring $20 or less for practical use, but may someday be a collectors item - IMO, that bow is truly a part of archery history. Also, are you positive it is a whitetail hunter, bear made a Polar LTD, prior to the whitetail hunter with nearly the same look, but I believe it was introduced in the late sixties. As I wasn't born until the early seventies maybe some who ventured through that time period searching for new gadgets and watching the archery market can provide more help.

LAST EDITED ON Feb-11-05 AT 09:23AM (MST)[p]Yeah, it's a Whitetail Hunter. It still has the whitetail deer logo and Whitetail Hunter underneath the logo on the limb of the bow. It's in pretty good shape. There was a little surface rust on certain areas. Nothing a little steel wool didn't take care of, though.

i had one of those...bright, shiny, brown metal limbs just above the grip on mine. last shot it about 14 years ago. probably will be a collector's item in 10 more years...save your money and upgrade soon, you'll be blown away by the performance of the new era bows.
