Battle Mountain near Savery, WY

We plan on leaving tomorrow and are going to try Battle Mountain for elk and deer over the next 6 days. I have hunted Battle during rifle season but never bow season and wondering if the elk will even be down that low this time of year. My friend has done some scouting but not seen the number of elk we usually see during rifle. I want to go higehr and he is set on hunting Battle. Any info, insight or past experience info is appreciated.

The elk are always there....from Jan-Jan. Good luck finding deer this year. There are a few left but i doubt there will be anything very big this year. The winter was darn sure hard on the pop. The elk didn't suffer at all! Be ready for lots of people. I've been out a few times and there are a lot more people than usual. It is usually pretty laxed around here during bow season, but this year it is like it usually is during rifle season. The elf have been pretty quite, but they always are this early. The elk never really start up until later in the month. Also it hasn't been great hunting weather so i'm guessing they are staying in the trees more. The good thing about Battle is that there are small groups of people that will climb it so it does lessen the pressure a little bit. Good luck to ya! And GO POKES! ALUMNI 06'

No I took a little better paying job. I have a red dodge cummins, 76 brown highboy, and a blue dodge company truck....i'll be around sometime...hopefully going to spend quite abit of that time in the hills, but got to pay the bills too. I'll send a pm on the #....where are you staying this year?
