backpack spotting scope

looking at buying a spotting scope to use on a backpack mule deer or elk hunt.i like the swaros,zeiss or leica but am open to any quality spotter that would work.just wondered what everybody carries in a pack,do you use the full size scopes or try to use the compacts or do most of you not even take a spotter when backpacking. thanks for any suggestions
 
I use some 16x60 Pentax Binoculars. Not the best, but still very functional. I bought them from Camerland a couple of years ago. I heard a rumor that the 16x60's aren't made anymore but I would verify that with Doug.
 
I would look into Nikons new 50mm ED glass, I am on the verge of buying one. The campfire forums has a great review about them.http://www.24hourcampfire.com/

thats what i would love to have dirtytough,but will take me a while to save up for it.is it not to heavy?what kind of tripod do you use.thanks
