Back to the desert

I found this forum a few months ago when i was starting to dred my north idaho Hunting season. There has been alot of great conversation that i have read these last few months. I moved to north idaho 12 years ago from the high deserts of central/eastern oregon. Since I have moved here I have enjoyed the mountains that surround me. Only one thing thing once a person gets a taste of the desert it must get into his blood. I have decided that i will countinue to hunt Elk in north Idaho but I just cant seem to get real excited about the white tail. Dont get me wrong i have taken a few nice white tails over the past 12 years but growing up hunting mule deer to me there is nothing that can compare. I am not sure how far I need to go south to get into descent mule deer country. I am not looking for anyones hunny hole just a little insight into how far south I need to go to get started. The biggest thing I am tired of is all the atv traffic that we run into during deer season. I am sure it is that way all thru the state but I think its time to start looking into some different areas. Any information would be greatly appreciated

For starters unit 11a is one of the best sleeper mule deer draw units in the state...and it's in your own backyard...besides that 14 and 18 are good draw units close 2 you...if you want general season hunt 39 up high

After reading your message closer looks like you wanted more of a desert mule deer area...The only problem with that is Idaho's best desert hunts are all very hard to draw...unit 45, 40 and 54 are the best in my opinion...as far as general desert hunts without 2 point restrictions try 39 or unit 69 are my two favorites...hope this helps
