At the risk of offending many other regulars on this site I have to pose a question, is the AZ Strip an overrated place to hunt mule deer?
Before I get blasted on this one let me say that I am not from the SW, haven't hunted desert country before, and agree that the Strip puts out some of the best mule deer bucks in the country year after year.
I can't justify it in my mind as being one of the top hunts out there though with the low deer densitities, and toughness of the hunting(based on the stories I've read). Personally I would much rather hunt an area that still put out great bucks where you would see more critters, i.e. the high country in some of the other premier mule deer states. I mean not seeing a deer for days on end is not my idea of a dream hunt. I don't mind working for an animal and prefer to hunt the high country more than any other terrian so its not about being lazy.
Is there something I'm missing, I'd welcome any thoughts.
