I want to put in for Antelope for the first time. What are some good areas/units to put in for. What I read on the AZGFD it seems that there is pretty good numbers around the Prescott area. I am not asking for any honey holes or anything just some helpful advice. Are the tags just as hard to get drawn for as elk? Any advice will help!!

Thanks

As a resident I believe my draw odds are around 1% so I would not worry so much about which area is good so much as hoping you draw. another suggestion would be buy a tag in NM or west TX............ Thanks, Allen Taylor......

Steve,
While the rifle odds are 1-2% for residents(nonresidents odds=?), the odds are better for archery. The first hunt in unit 19a has some of the better hunter success. In 19a, Prescott Valley is encroaching quickly upon the habitat. Muzzleloader in 17a has odds of about 4%, but its a lot of private property. Buying a NM tag, like Bura said, is probably the better route to hunting antelope before you die of old age waiting for an AZ tag.

I can help with the NM tags if anyone is interested. E-mail [email protected]. Tags run from $600-$1,000. These are are private landowner authorizations. The hunt date will be 9-18/19. Success rates run 90%+ on decent to very decent bucks.

Forgot to mention you can see some of the quality on my site. Please go to the outfitter/guide section of this site and click on NM. Look for JFW Ranch Consulting. Jim
