Automobile blues

Ok, now that the water heater is out of the way, I'm on to project grocery getter.

The question is, do I spend a bunch of cash trying to trouble shoot the I-6 vortec with new coils and plugs ect., or do I dump it like a red headed step child out to the curb.

Been looking at some new grocery getters and wondered if anyone had any first hand knowledge of the new Durango, Traverse, or maybe Explorer. I've even tossed around the idea of a mini van but got the look of death from the red head. I've seen some good deals on some of these in the 24k range for basically a brand new machine....well, good deal compared to some prices...all outrageous.

Not sure what direction to go yet but if I do upgrade from the Chevy Trailblazer I think I have it narrowed down to those 3 or 4. It has to be at least 6 passenger so that limits my options.

Thought I'd see what others experience with these have been. Don't throw out any Jap brands into the mix as I could never squeeze the trigger on one even as much as I'd thought about a Toyota just for the sake of giving the UAW the finger.

I guess I should also throw the question out there what could be the issue on a I-6 vortec making it sputter? I'd say fuel filter is due but it goes away at high rpm which is contrary to the filter being plugged. My next thought is coils maybe? Bastys are dang near a Benjamin a plug which is I guess, a hella cheaper than a new rig. I just like to have one rig that I don't have to worry about and the miles are creeping up with this one.

Bess - that is my song exactly. Sold my Dakota and bought a Windstar. Damned if I hadn't just barely turned 31 too. Got a vasectomy a few months later. Haven't got any of it back yet.

As far as sputtering goes, one question does she hum when she sputters? I could talk to Red if you like.

Punk, the sports van were looking at doesn't look like a van, that's the only reason I am giving in. lol

We had a trailblazer for a year or so, biggest piece of shat in the world. We have a Honda Pilot now, damn nice vehicle. I drove GMC's forever, saw the quality slowly slipping away and the price steadily climbing. I drive a Tundra now, won't go back. Both of our cars were made right here in the USA by real americans too, I met all of 'em. Took 'em all out to lunch at Taco Bell!

1711... check out the Utah State Auction. Heard they got a Crown Vic & a nearly new Charger they will let go cheap. Fixer upper's but both passed the rear-end crash test.

Personally I think lil'red & kids deserve a 2012 Escalade

The Yukon is a very nice rig. Mileage isn't bad and they ride like a dream. Will get Red anywhere she needs to go, and do it in style, even Nevada. Plus theres plenty of headroom with that tilt wheel.
