Time to get the tranny serviced on my 2008 dodge, where does everyone go and who is the best? I used to go to the dealer but feel I can get better and cheaper service somewhere else. Was considering Tanner. Any thoughts?

Had a local(Lube shop!) here a couple years ago flush a Tranny on a Car!

Didn't get down the road 500 yards before a light on the Dash lit up!

Dumb Bastards put the wrong Fluid in the Tranny!

Had to take it to the Dealer & they said:Who The Hell flushed the Tranny?

They Flushed the New/Wrong Fluid out & put the right Fluid back in it!

Luckily no problems, but 500.00 later............ and the Lube Shop would accept No Responsibility!

I don't really know who is the best but I can tell you who is one of the worst!

For GAWDS Sakes Guys,We Got Kids on this Site,Some of them are 65 years Old!:D

I don't care if they're big or small!
If they throw lead I like em all!
:p

It's a tough situation either way.

The dealership has trained techs, the correct parts and argueably the cleanest shop. Problem is, they can always find something else wrong with your rig and will try to "upsell" your service. They are also the most expensive.

There are SOME tranny shops that hire "McTechs"....to do the work and a real tech sort of supervises. They find stuff, like "tranny gravel", in your perfectly functional trans and tell you that an overhaul is necessary.

My best experience is with a basic auto repair shop, that has been in the area a LONG time and has a good reputation.

"whackin' a surly bartender ain't much of a crime"

I would take it to a Dodge dealer and make sure they put the right oil in it. I KNOW what oil my F350 takes and it damn sure is critical what you put in these high dollar trans today. I have talked to alot of shops before about trans oil and most of them want to just sell you what they have. Any more I go to a good luberacant dealer get the right oil and filter and do it myself about every 30,000 miles.
