Arizona Archery Question.....

I am hoping to make my first trip to Arizona chasing muleys and I have been struggling with the online info on application procedure for the bow hunt. I have heard that it could be an over the counter tag. Anyone know if that is true...and if so, whether it is available online, over the phone, or just in person??? Thanks for any input.

It is an over the counter tag. You do have to buy a hunting license along with the tag.

Good Luck

Just stop by Wal-Mart and pick it up. You might also pick up a Archery Turkey tag at the same time if you're hunting the summer season.

whatever you do...Don't go to Walmart! Walmart is the downfall of American small businesses!! Walmart is like the town sl*t, she's dirty, she's cheap, her services aren't that great and nothing good ever comes from it.

It depends on where he is going. You can go to any of the regional offices and buy a tag and license there. The regional offices are in Pinetop, Flagstaff, Kingman, Yuma, Tucson, and Mesa. The main office is in Phoenix. You can buy a license online, I'm not sure about the tag though, I don't think you can.

I don't get it. What is the big hang up on buying your tags and license from Walmart? The sporting goods section typically has better hours than AZGFD making it more convenient. Plus, does Walmart actually make money off the tags and license? I don't think they do (could be wrong), cause I pay the same for my STATE issued license from a regional office as I do from Wallyworld. Another thing to think about is, the more people that go to the regional office the more staff they need to manage the traffic. This takes money away from game management and habitat rehabilitation efforts. I'd rather see the corporate giants get a few more bucks rather than game and fish rasising the license and tag fees yet again to cover increasing costs.

You just asked for suggestions on where he could buy a license...so I gave some suggestions. I don't care where someone buys his or her license. That's a personal choice. You asked someone for suggestions on where he could buy his license, so I gave suggestions. Enough said.

Sorry I was referring to the anti-walmart posts. Just curious where those are coming from.

I AGREE ABOUT THAT ANTI WALMART THING. MOST OF THE PEOPLE WORKING THERE DONT KNOW HOW TO FILL OUT TAGS BUT THEN THERE ARE A FEW WALMARTS IN ARE AREA THAT HUNTERS WORKING IN THEM. LOOK UM OVER VERY CAREFULLY NO MATER WHERE YOU GO.YES IT IS OVER THE COUTER AND LISENCE TOO. WHO EVER YOU BUY IT FROM ONLY MAKES 25CENTS A TAG ANYWAYS AND JUST DOING EVERYONE A FAVOR. SHARLIN

You are right, Walmart and any other license dealer makes very little on the licenses. The problem is that most people that buy licenses will also make other purchases while they are there. ie. camo, ammo, drinks, etc.

Don't worry about it. I think everyone here in AZ is a little fired up right now waiting and waiting and waiting....

The Walmart employees at the store by my house don't have a clue with regard to any of the outdoor sports. All they do is refill the shelves with ice chests and occasionally you can get one to ring you up. I still shop at the store but I have definatley cut back by more than half of what I was doing before. Never seems to be a pleasurable experience and the employees openly complain about their jobs. Very unprofessional and there is no customer service at all. Tons of employees walking around but they all are chashiers or stockers.

Did not mean to hi-jack this thread but I figured since we were waiting for the results I would throw in my 2 cents. Good luck to everyone who applied.

I think you can get them at any sporting goods place. Including Sports Authority, Big 5, and any of the others including Walmart. I have never had a problem with anyone filling out my info for a tag or license there.
