Are there Elk around Tucson?

Just curious. Thinking about moving that way later this year and was curious as to how far I'd have to go to look for sheds. Mt. Lemmon is just north of town and there's another range NE about 40 miles. Do these hold any elk?

Not sure of elk but lots of Wildcats there!

pack a lunch, it may be a long walk. and don't worry about the wildcats, they are harmless.

Typically, if they don't issue tags for a particular unit, there probably wont be any elk in the unit.

Look into travelling north for the weekend for your shed trips! Good luck

No elk in 33 immediately East of Tucson. There are very few in 32 which would be about 40 miles NE. The closest uit with a decent population would probably be 27 or 23, both hard draws.

All the elk around Tucson are thirsty, hungry and sunburned.....oh yeah, they mostly only respond to mariachi elk calls.
