Archery elk unit 18

Is unit 18 controlled archery elk hunt still as good as it was when they first opened it? I've never hunted it, but I heard that it was a turkey shoot the first year. Just curious if the bulls have wised up to the early hunt?

A friend of mine drew it last year. He is a very succesful bowhunter he ended up shooting a smallish 6 point .His partner got a goose egg. The weather last year was not very conducive to bowhunting.

IDFG has really taken a toll on the elk herds around there... they have significantly increased bull harvest around that region since 2005ish and it shows it!
