Wyobowhunt:

We sure do like seeing photos, thanks for posting. Nice looking 6 point. Let's hear the story with it.

Here is the story behind this bull.
I had been hunting an area with my brother-in-law (Brad) I had never hunted before and it rained all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday AM and we were not seeing the elk I had seen during the Summer. So by Sunday Morning we were ready to pick up and head home. So off we went thinking that we would drive the 3hrs home and then go hunt deer in the evening. After I got to my parents house my mom told me my friend Cory had called and said he killed a big bull and I needed to give him a call. After visiting with him I thought about going in, but I knew it was going to be a pain because I would have trouble getting one packed out by Monday afternoon. Being a teacher I knew I had to be at school on Tuesday so I wasn?t sure what to do. My mind was made up when my cousin Shawn and his friend Eric showed up and said lets go between the four of us we can get it out with no problem :). So away we went back to our area, this time closer and the drive was only an hour. After walking in about a 1/2 mile Eric ripped out a bugle and a ways in front of us we heard several bugles answering. We had to move fast because we only had about an hour of good shooting light left. We finally got to the ridge above all the bugles and moved down and started cow calling and instantly heard over 10 different bulls answer. A little 3x4 rag horn walked within 20 yards of Brad but he wanted a bigger bull. I still could not see the bulls because of a little saddle so I moved up on the saddle between a couple rocks and peaked over the top and could not believe my eyes, 12 different bulls. I ended up letting a 5pt walk by because I was within 80 yards of a big 7X7 360+. The night ended with us sneaking out in the dark and cold camping about a 1/4 from the elk and listening to them all night (heaven). The next morning we decided to team up with my cousin going with me and Eric and Brad going together. Things were really going that morning and but the bulls were holding up a ways away so Shawn and I moved closer to the bulls and finally go there attention. I had Shawn move 40 yards behind and start cow calling and the bull I shot answered on the ridge across from us. I let out a little bugle and Shawn cow called again, this time the bull started coming at a dead run toward us. We finally stopped behind a rock about 5yds from me and let out a bugle that about broke my eardrums. While I was drawing we heard me and started to run, but a quick cow call stopped him at 12yds. The arrow flew true and we ran about 6 steps fell down got up took 2 more steps and fell down as you him in the picture. Great hunt shared with family and friends in God?s country what else could I ask for except a horse to get him out. Pack out took 4 hrs.
Sorry so long

ICMDEER
It was a great year. All the scouting over the summer paid off with good animals and about 50 sheds to add to the collection. I will have to stop by and show you show of the video footage of the deer when he was still in velvet.

hello wyobowhunter, great bull you got, i am in wyoming as well did not have your success this year though. great time trying though. what area were you in??? looking to meet some new people to maybe get some hunts in together.. hope to hear from you.

If was a great hunt. This is the first time that I drew a tag for this area. One out of seven with close to 40% odds is not very good so maybe I can start a run of getting tags for this area.
Thanks again
