Has anyone ever made their own bow, arrows, and points to hunt with? I am seriously considering the idea myself. Here is my latest point. It weighs in at 110 grains.

I have thought about it. How are you going to practice enough with the points? I guess if it is a home made job, the shot would have to be very close.. It seems that probability for wounding a critter would be pretty high..
I thought about making the points out of iron like a damacus blade...
I ahve a ways to go yet, I am still workign on getting a deer and bear with my recurve. after that, I might go for the home made bow& arrows.
good luck, make sure and post you results if you try it.

I doubt using a stone (obsidian) broadhead would even be legal. Did you find that or make it yourself?

The shots would have to be way close, but isn't that the whole point of bowhunting anyway? I'm with you on the legality of the whole thing but it's just an idea right now. I made this one, but I have fooled a couple of people with it. I didn't let them go away thinking it was "real" though.

Most states do allow those points but they have to meet the diameter req. I know people who have killed deer with them but since I have absolutely no tallent for making them I've never tried it myself.

there is several guys in casper who make there own bows and arrows but the use factory broadheads. one guy makes recurves that are 120-130 pound draws and it is kind of funny to watch himshoot them but he makes it through our 20 target 3-d leauge without a problem.

I think they would work fine within their limitations. Was done for 1000's of years before now. That would be a sweet thing to try after I have another dozen bow kills. Switched from rifle to bow because it was getting too easy. Can see myself switching from compound to recurve etc. if I live that long.
