im sure this has been asked before but how many of you guys shoot longbows or recurves? i have been into it for about 6 months and am getting ready to sell my compound. also, what type of bow do you shoot and what is the farthest you would shoot at an animal? thanks!

I hunt with both (compound and traditional) depending on the animal I'm chasing. My main recurve is a custom built Brackenbury built by the ol' man himself. It's smooth and quiet.

I personally don't shoot over 30 yards with my recurve. Too risky for me beyond that.

With limited time to take off and kids of hunting age, I hunt more now with a rifle, but still spend a few days with the long bow in September. Started out with a cheap pawnshop compound (and it was cheap!!!). The next year my wife bought me a Hoyt Gamegetter II. Archaic by todays standards, but a sweet shooting compound that served me well on an elk, muley, and an antelope. Then I built a take down recurve and later a long bow.
