Any lucky draws for Wyoming elk?

Just wondering if anyone was lucky this year on the Wyoming out of state elk draw? Three son's out in and all unsuccessful.

I tried for 56 late and missed again with max points. I hunted 55 in '98 and drew my first year. Odds were 2% then. I REALLY want to get back there, but can't hunt the rut due to work (wine business). I can't really be in the woods until Nov 1st

Well I did not draw a bull tag in Unit 7, but I drew two cow tags. I'm not sure why I put down 2nd choice cow tag. Anyone know good spots to find the cow elk.

I got the odds to come up. Odds for max pts was better than previously as expected (I think 22%) but random draw was still about 2%.
On the cow elk, you might consider putting in for the HMA areas since there's no extra fee so it might give you some options.
Good luck!

I drew a 35 type 9. Not sure if that is lucky or not but at least I get to go somewhere this year. Yeeeehah!

RE: I drew unit 24

special... with 0 pref. points. I was very lucky for sure. Wyoming has been very kind to me. Makes up for all of the years of unlucky draws in other states.

RE: I drew unit 24

LONGUN has school buddies from Kali who have drawn either 4 or 5 times now in a row for ELK in WY, either they are padding the envelopes with C notes or LADY LUCK IS ON THEIR SIDE EVERY YEAR.

Brian, I thought we were supposed to send "C-Notes" in with our application, maybe we aren't sending enough! Congrats to all you lucky ones!!

No wonder I didn't draw Area 7. Many here also applied there. Max points, special draw, swing and a miss. Oh well. Come on NM or AZ.

Poof, bullnanza--
You drew Green Mountain--that's tough for a Res. non-landowner!
Yer gold, start your homework, pard!

RE: I drew unit 24

thanks rumproast. I hunted 24 back in 2004. Saw a ton of 250-300 point bulls. Is a 350 point bull out of the question in 24? I held out for a whopper til the last day and took a small bull to fill my tag.

General with 0 points plus a cow tag. Nothing special, but that makes it once since 2000 that I didn't draw.Wyo has treated me well.

LAST EDITED ON Mar-07-09 AT 11:46AM (MST)[p]Drew area 7 with max points. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

For Area 7, it is considered best for bowhunting. After going with a friend who drew a couple years ago, I'd learn to bow hunt if I ever drew. We saw a 370 class bull during the bow hunt but just got him on a quick video from the road. On rifle, we when a couple weeks after the opening day he didn't get a shot and we didn't see a lot. I saw more sign there than anywhere which told me they are there early but move to private areas when the guns start going off. Our experience solidly confirmed what I'd read elsewhere.
