Antler hunting in the dark?

Is it wrong to hunt for sheds in the dark, if the deer, elk, moose etc. have moved out of the area?

If you are in an area that you have enough antlers on the ground that you can find them in the dark, that itself is just plain wrong! :) I'd go through a crate of batteries before I would find one on the dark. It's hard for me to imagine but if I were in your shoes I would be more worried about running out of room in my pickup if I were to hunt them in the day, so I guess that hunting them in the dark is the best option, that way you miss about 3/4 of them and you might be able to actually fit them all in. :)

It's wrong if your doing it to pick them up before the legal date, otherwise go for it but I don't think your as-they-lay photos will turn out vey good unless you use a flash.

Are you from TU?

I was also wondering sort of the same... Can it be done in your sleep and at night? Kind of like a sleep walking/shed hunting. Tell me what you think.

I don't hunt sheds in the dark. Boogie man being the first reason second, I only find a few in the broad daylight but I know a few guys that went out on the may 1st opener last year and had a pile before I started.

ya thats because they had them stashed and just went to pick up their piles with gps before anybody found them at daylight.

Same thing with Millville last year boys p there packin lamps and spot lights and wad lamps.... What a joke

It's illegal to attempt to find sheds before May 1 in Wyoming. Those guys could lose hunting privileges for a year if they went out before May 1,along with the fines.I suppose it would be kinda hard to prove, but why push it?I hate the law,but it is a law.More power to those guys if they just went out stumbling around in the dark and found sheds.Sure seems like they would have had to have them located before then though.

haha i actually tried this once cause i herd from a friend that is a big time shed hunter that if you go out in the dark right after it rains the sheds shine in the light. works well in open areas and for elk sheds he said. well i want looking for elk sheds or in a open area and ended up actually finding a nice 4 point. it works a little but still kinda rough. and one night when i didn't have time in the day and was looking for a big pair i went out with my dad with just flashlights. he found a spike deer somehow... so its possible to find sheds in the dark with a light. bigger the better.
