Antelope/Winter 2018 and 2017

I have max points for antelope and was thinking of planning an antelope hunt this year. I held off last year because of the harsh winter weather the previous year.

How has this most recent winter been in southern Wyoming? What did guys see last fall after the previous winter?

Appreciate any advice and insight. Thanks...

As you know, last winter was harsh. This winter has been mild, though it's not over yet. If it remains mild, it will end up being one of easier winters on wildlife in some time. If we get the heavy wet snows that March often brings, it will just depend. At least the animals aren't as stretched as usual by this time. This, all in reference to western Wyoming only.

The entire state of Wyoming has been having a pretty easy winter this year, especially the west side compared to last year. However, as I type this there is a big storm going up from the southwest to the northeast through the middle of the state and the last I read was that 12" of snow was predicted up through the Casper area by the time the storm passes. I would suggest to the OP that he should wait until about the second or third week of May to make his final decision of whether to apply and where after the final Regs are signed by the Commission and published on the G&F website. There is also no reason to give them your money several months in advance when you have until 5/31 to apply for deer and antelope.

Personally I wouldn't worry to much about winter. After last years bad winter pronghorn guide service killed another wyo state record with a 92? giant and I know another person that killed a 91? giant and I'm pretty sure both areas had the winter. Not gonna be 90? goats behind every bush but I'm sure if ya could spend a week or 2 hunting ya could up a good goat!!! Apply and go hunt!!
