Anybody hunted antelope in area 50, type 1? If so, how did it go? Doable as a DIY on public or not enough access?

Never been there, but the hunt planner shows it as difficult access for antelope and that's probably because a big part of that unit on the east side is NF that may not hold goats. It also only took 3 PPs for 100% Draw, but there were were also 116 guys with 2 or fewer PPs that went into the Random Draw for less than a dozen tags. I can't remember anyone ever asking or talking about that unit, so I can't pass anything on that way either.

I hunted the unit in 2015 with the muzzleloader tag. It took me about 2 hours to fill my tag on public land. There were enough antelope on public to make for a successful hunt, although, the bucks that I saw and the one I shot were just average bucks. I did not see any big bucks. If your just looking to get out and have a successful hunt and not looking for a big buck, unit 50 should suffice.

The public access is sketchy but as others have said. It can be done. How many points do you have. PM me if you like.

Thanks folks. Searcher, we have 1.33 points going into 2018. Possibly willing to go "special" and/or pay trespass fee.

Check the draw odds. I'm not sure if you can draw with 1.33 pts in the special draw or not. 10-15 years ago you could pay a trespass fee. A lot has changed since then. A lot of outfitters work that area. Not sure if you could find private to hunt or not. I will send you a PM.
