Game Wardens Seek Help in Killing, Waste of Trophy Mule Deer
December 12, 2016/in Case Files, Edwin Lyngar, News
Another mule deer has been killed and left to waste in Southern Nevada taking the grim total to nine in 2016. This time a mule deer was killed at the foothills east of Rose Valley in area 231 Nov. 28. The head of the animal was partially removed but was left at the scene.

Game wardens do not believe this incident is related to the discovery of eight mule deer found killed in September in Southern Nevada.

deer-poaching?We?ve had far too many animals left to rot this year,? said Tyler Turnipseed, chief game warden with NDOW. ?As with the last case, we've found no leads to the shooter, and we need the public?s help if we're going to put a stop to this senseless waste. This is a big, beautiful buck that any legal hunter would be proud to tag during a legal season.?

The killing of the animal and subsequent waste are two separate crimes. This crime also carries higher civil penalties because this is a considered a trophy mule deer. Big game poaching in Nevada is a felony.

Operation Game Thief (OGT) is offering a $1,000 reward to help catch the shooter or shooters responsible. People who are angered by this senseless crime can donate to OGT to increase the reward offered or to help fund future wildlife cases.

To report wildlife crime, sportsmen and members of the public can call OGT at (800) 992-3030. Follow Turnipseed on Twitter for the most up to date information on investigations @Chief_GW_NV.

Even for a poacher, this guy must have been stupid/lazy... Head was "partially" removed..?? Maybe they were going to leave it and come back later..??

Completely senseless, trophy or not.

That's an awfully wasteful end to a fine animal. Obvious disrespect for wildlife, and an absences of any hunan ethic.
Sad deal.
