According to archeologists? latest theory, it was intentionally buried with sand about 8,000 years ago. No one knows who these people were, what the massive buildings were for, or why they were buried.



Just for reference, these massive structures were built during the last ice age and are more than 7,000 years older than any other manmade structure we have yet discovered on our planet. Regardless of the religious implications, manny's scripture quotes and Bess's nonsensical posts about evolution, I think stuff like this is fascinating. I always wanted to be an "erchologist" ;-). Excavating a site like that would be my dream job come true.
