Almost perfect moose

I've been spending my hunting time packed into the wilderness, but last weekend did some road hunting. Found this bull & as you can see, he was in a perfect spot! Unfortunately, he still didn't pass the big / close to the road ratio test...

If anyone has any info on a wallhanger on the North Slope Summit unit, please let me know.

Thanks,

Guy

LAST EDITED ON Oct-07-08 AT 11:24AM (MST)[p]For what it is worth, when I had my Moose tag in Wyoming, the game biologist suggested I hunt the roads, rather than packing back in. His thinking was that, while bulls are in the rut they are moving all over the place and you have a better chance of finding a good one by covering more country rather than putting your eggs in one basket (drainage). It made sense to me and that is what I did. I ended up seeing lots of Moose and killed a nice bull.
I know there are not many roads on the North Slope, so maybe that is not much of an option. Anyway, good luck. Three years ago I did see two nice bulls when I was hiking up the drainage toward Dead Horse Pass. Good Luck and Post a picture when you score.

A spike in the raod is equal to any size trophy that requires a 5-mile hike with a 5,000-foot gain in elevation.
