Is there a 3rd party company anyone of you gents know of that can age a bull/ buck? Like to get the age of the bull I harvested this year. I have the ageing molars. Any help would be great. Thank ya

Robby Denning of rokslide does an aging service, but you need front portion of lower jaw i believe. Look him up

Some of the state agencies have the best results as far as accuracy.
The WG&F lab were proven more accurate on known ages from animals that Montana also aged.
I believe you can get teeth aged by them for a fee.

I would read this then call or email them:
https://wgfd.wyo.gov/Hunting/Tooth-Aging

I know one of the techs and they can answer your questions about the fee and the whole process.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-14-18 AT 04:57PM (MST)[p]Here in IL G&F would take tree pruners and cut out one side of the lower jaw with hunters approval of course

I had to send in a tooth when I harvested a bull in Utah a few years back. In Alaska, my relative had to turn in a lower jaw on his moose. It may be worth checking out biologists in either state to see who does their aging?

Can't Remember which MM'er it was?

But a while back He had His PISSCUTTER 5 Point Bull Aged!

He Said for sure He knew it was a young Bull!

DWR got back with the Age Info Claiming the Bull was 16 Years old!

That Ought to Raise the Age Objectives if you do that a few times!

I also heard about a buck on the other side of the spectrum. 200+ as a 3.5 year old. Unlikely, but not impossible I guess..
Trying to get the most accurate age. Pretty much all state agencies give + or - 1 year, which is realistic.
It would be cool if anyone had consecutive years of a buck/bull footage or sheds to verify accuracy of state ageing .

Bessy, it's not the same but I killed a Canada goose with a leg band. G&F said I was wrong with my time frame or number because the goose would be 16 years old and they don't that long. Luckily it was killed on the State goose hunting site and all birds have to be checked in.
