Been looking for a new sight and thinking about trying a one pin adjustable sight. Do any of you use this type a sight for hunting?

I have hunted for years with a Custom Bow Equipment 3D-TL with a single up pin. It is easily adjusted, rock solid and is silent. They do not make them any more but they can be purchased occasionally at archery talk . com.

I love my single pin sight for hunting. I have a really hard time using multiple pins anymore. I use the vital bow gear proslide. they make alot of great sight at great prices.

What do you sight in at (yards)? If you have a longer shot than what you are sighted in for, do you leave the pin in place and adjust or do you move the pin? Would you have time to move the pin? Fill me in.

My sight can swing from 17 yards to 87 yards. For me when I am out in the field I set my pin to 40 yards and I know I need to aim 6-8 inches low for a 20 to 30 yard shot but most times when you see a deer they are farther away than that. I have not had an issue with moving my pin when needed. It comes very natural if you shoot enough to where it only take a second to get it close. If the animal is farther than 40 yards away you should have time to range and adjust anyway. If you don't it wasn't a good shot to take. My biggest buck was shot at 12.5 yards and the first thing I did when I saw him was throw my sight to the bottom which was about 17 yards. I almost moved my pin without thinking about it. So I would just recommend plenty of shooting even with the odd yardages so you get used to moving the sight. And to give yourself a little pressure practice use it in some 3D tournaments. This will let you know pretty fast if you forgot to move it without the worry of wounding an animal.

I have hunted with an adjustable sight for several years and have not encountered a situation where I did not have time to adjust my sight. As mentioned before, you can hold high or low for quick shots, but you can also dial in an exact distance in most cases, which is more accurate in my opinion.

I shoot a brand new HHA single-pin on my bow and love it. Super accurate and easy to dial in. If ya want more info PM me and I'd be more than happy to help.
