LAST EDITED ON Jan-15-05 AT 00:50AM (MST)[p]I received this elk shed as a gift on Wednesday. The shed was picked up on my tree farm in late March of 2004. It was lying on the side of the road, a road which I had been on the weekend before and hadn't seen it. The cutters working on the unit had somehow managed to drive past it as well, as there were tire tracks going past it. The other side was never found. I went back for two weeks and looked for it in between the timber falling which was going on.
I bugged the guy that picked it up to give it to me. You see, the guy that picked it up had many trophies from working in the woods already, and I had never found an elk shed. That changed though, I picked up a matching set the next day along side another road (the elk make it easy for us!).
With my finals days at work, I bugged the guy again for the shed. He kept giving me jabs about how it was sitting on top of his wood pile in the barn at home. The day before I left I asked him again and he responded with "it'll be a cold day in Hell before I give that thing up."
I guess my last day at work must have been a cold day ;-) One of the biggest Coast Range Roosevelt elk sheds I have ever seen. The base on it is 10", if that gives you a size comparison.
Hope everyone enjoys it, I certainly do!
