A decent day of shed hunting...

A friend and I went out shed hunting yesterday and found a few old sheds. The area we hiked was burned this past summer and the sheds were fairly easy to find. Luckly the area is closed to four-wheelers! No brown sheds; however we saw two bucks that had shed their antlers but we were unable to find them. So enjoy the pics.

Just curious was that big 4 point dead head laying in a creek?

No, I found the 4-point in the open on the side of a hill. I'm pretty sure that a coyote dropped it there. There weren't any bones around it. The 2X3 I found at the base of a burnt tree in a gully.

Those are some sweet sheds. Thats neat how the ones in the back have black tips, presumably from the fire. great finds man keep up the good work

Yeah, it was a good day. Nothing too amazing, but a lot of little sheds are better than no sheds at all. I found a lot of really old sun deteriorated bases that would have been good sheds and other sheds that just fell apart when I picked them up. For one, they have been in there a long time, and two, the fire burned the rest. The access is limited as I stated in my orignal post so it makes it nice and I don't think that many people shed hunt there. Unfortunately, the winters have been really mild there and the big bucks seem to be wintering in higher elevations. That's why I haven't found any new sheds up there yet. There's a lot of country to cover so hopefully sooner or later I'll find a nice set. I'm headed out this coming weekend again, so stay tuned for more pics.

Here are a few more I found over President's Day weekend. It was fun. The first pic is from Friday and the second is from President's Day (Monday). These are just the ones I found, my friend found about 8-10 in those two days, including one nice 6 point elk shed. I've found about 45 sheds this year but no brown ones yet.

I'm shed hunting exclusively in Idaho. The sheds I've found weren't from the burn area you are thinking of. I shed hunt all around but mostly north of Boise.
