8x or 10x XT binos??

My wife bought me a pair of Cabelas 8x42 XT binos for christmas and I was thinking about suggesting that she trade them in for a set of 10x. I have heard a lot of people say that 8x is better for all day glassing on foot. I do carry a spotter all day as well. I tried the xt compared to the nikon monarch and leupold cascades and liked the feel of the xt better, so I like the model. I am just wondering about the magnification. Any help appreciated.

Do you have a problem holding them steady? I checked out the 12x50 at cabelas today and they looked pretty sweet. I have never used that power but they didn't seem too big.

Well I went with 10 power. I also went with the Alaskan guide line instead.
