There is no snow to speak of but the bucks have started rutting. Looks like nice weather but bring your long johns.

I have a 4th season tag. Scouting trip last weekend pretty dry. No snow in forecast through the 18th. I have hunted the unit a few times, but not on late-season. I went once when a friend had the tag in early november, with snow and deer everywhere, and a 194 on the ground. I am heading out early next week, which will give me time ot make a decision to hunt or turn the tag back. Next year the late season is even later. Any comments?

Too late to turn your tag in if you want your preference points back, has to be 30 days prior to the hunt.

3rd season was tough, we had a successful hunt even though we didn't kill a buck, relearned some hunting areas we had hunted with family way back, and learned some new areas for maybe future hunts, met some people from the unit that were questioning the rut, the hunt, and lack of bucks.

We did find a shed that is probably a muley but the main beam curls around like a whitetail, are there whitetails in these units?

Hope other hunters had some success.

Nope, no whitetails.
