FDR was the President -

The U.S.A was fighting the Japanese in Battan and other parts of the Pacific and was preparing to enter the European theater -

Ted Williams was preparing to enlist in the U.S. Navy -

The world tuned in to "The Voice of America" on short wave radio for all the latest news from the front, Jack Benny and "Abies Irish Rose" -

The Stanford Cardinal woke up as NCAA Basketball Champions, having beaten Dartmouth the night before by a score of 53-38.

AND - Most importantly - in a little town called Healdsburg, on the Russian River of the great state of California a bouncing little baby boy was delivered into the arms of his parents who, upon touching the boy were literally SHOCKED by all the electrical energy he possesed! Yes - our very own KILOWATT!!

Happy Birthday Kilo!!

Happy Birthday!

An interesting statistic.....Gas cost $.19 a gallon and the minimum wage was $.30 an hour. Now gas costs $4.50 a gallon and the minimum wage is $8.50 an hour, or so. Not much has changed, percentage wise.

Well this was quite a shock this morning to read what Roy posted here. Thanks Roy even though some of it is incorrect but that is ok....still a nice tribute, thanks. Actually, I was born in the gold country of CA.......and not 1842 either.

To all of you thanks for the best wishes and the day is not over yet, the wife made my favorite cake...Banana Nut Bread and tomorrow night the neighbor lady is making or will have a Lemon cake with white frosting on it.

Now if the F&G Depts would throw in a few tags that would be the icing on the cake as they say.....THANK YOU ALL.

Happy birthday Brian! Thank you for all you do on this site. You're always willing to help when someone needs it. I remember you took me under your wing when I first came on here. You posted photos for me and even got my phone number and called me at home.

I first met you in Elko at the Star! Man, what a dinner that was! Before that you found my truck when I was up in the Rubys hunting and left your card. I still have it.

I was with you in Wyoming when you shot your first pronghorn. You called me to tell me. I still have that message on my phone. lol

As a Moderator, you never stoop to our level when we get crazy on here. That's OK, we forgive you for that.:)

I hope you're around here for many many more years!
