A buddy and I have a decent shot at drawing the archery bull tag as non-residents this year. 16 points was bonus pool last year with later archery dates, so I’m guessing that may fluctuate a bit with normal dates. A two-point fluctuation might be a bit of a pipe dream, but we will see.

From the reports I’m seeing, looks like that country is pretty thirsty. Is it changing at all? Do you think the drought will persist long enough to have a big impact on the elk in that unit? I recognize that it’s a guessing game on weather, but some of you know this country well enough to understand what it may look like through September. Thank you and good luck to everyone in the draw.

a good snow fell, East and West of Your unit choice in late Jan.More coming in days to come, should make for good elk forage this Spring ... Bruce & SilverGrand

Even with recent snowfall (which was a God-send) most of the state is in extreme drought. We could a couple more storms like that. I think the animals are being affected, unfortunatley

Over 8” of snow out of last night’s storm in the White Mountains! I’ll take all I can get.

So do you have 16 points?

I had the archery tag in 2019. I had a great time and learned a ton. It was the best elk hunt I’ve been on, even though my tag went un-filled. Let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you very much. If you ever need any help in Nevada, please reach out to me.

A buddy and I applied as a party with 14. There was a big jump last year with the later dates. Like I said, we are hoping that the points drop a bit, but from 16 to 14 might be wishful thinking with the attention that unit is getting lately.

I think you will draw best of luck to you! Hope you keep us updated.

yep
I'm getting old, scanned the whole page and didn't see that odd date.
I think that’s what caused it to jump by three points. Of course, the good press that 5BN is getting is contributing as well. Just need it to cool down to 14 points! Drought, earlier dates, and a little luck....

Did the unit pick up any more moisture? I’ve been keeping an eye on Flagstaff weather.

Sometimes people get stupid, I certainly have.
I, like many are quick on the keyboard but It doesn't do me or him any good to assume he's the same person. He was a contributor here for years and I assume he's "done his time". Time for me/us to move on and give him a chance to prove himself.

I am curious why you would make this comment. Please explain
Thanks

He's not even close to doing his time. His fines may have been paid by his brother running hounds but he still has quite a few years on his license suspension and if he was truly that remorseful he would have manned up and stood before the commission and apologized for his disgusting acts.

Thank you and good luck to everyone in the drawI work on a ranch located in the 5B unit. Just letting you know we got some monsoon rains and most all the tanks have good water currently 8/22/21. Even Hart tank is full finally!
Good luck!

I live and work out in the 5B area. The monsoons finally gave us some moisture and most every tank is currently full in 5 B north. Even Hart tank has caught water and is full!
