anyone owned both of these?
im wanting a quad cab, but not sure if im giving up a ton of mileage. everyone ive talked says they get 15mpg w/ the 2014,15 models, but they're all running 35s. anyone know what the new ones get w/ 33s at 65-70mph unloaded on the highway? my 5.9 gets 18 regulary but drops quick once i add a trailer.
thanks

I have a 2012 6.7 3500 pickup and the best it gets is 14 mpg, check your gear ratio when buying a truck.

I have a 2014 2500 4x4 with the 3.42 gear ratio and stock 18" rims and tires. It's tow rating is still over 17,000 pounds and it is leaps and bounds a better towing truck than the 03 3500 with 3.73 gear ratio that I used to have. Both are/were club cabs. The newer ones also have way more room in the back seat. When I drove the new one home from the dealer, from Mountain Home Idaho to Susanville Ca. about an 8 hour trip 55-75 mph. it averaged over 17 mpg hand calculated. That was brand new. I keep an eye on the computer average and it is usually around 17 but lately it has been getting around 18. I don't like the def fluid though. It's very minimal not towing, but towing it drinks it like fuel.

Around here the logic seems to be the thicker the black cloud, the higher the lift, and the larger the tires, the higher the MPG they will tell you they get.

My 5.9 liter gets anywhere from 16-20mpg.

My 6.7 liter gets a constant 12.5-13.5.

If you do delete kits on the 6.7 you will see 16-18

My 2012 6.7 gets 16-18 after deletes, just like nfh said. Before the deletes I got around 14. My friend has a 2012 using a different delete name brand kit gets about 20 mpg. I sold a 2007 to another friend of mine and he gets about 20-22 with deletes using a 6.7. fatrooster

No smog checks in Nevada?

I have a 2015 2500 CC, LB, 4X4 with 3.42 gears, with 295 (34.5") tires...The thing tows like a beast - way more truck than I really need.

My commute to work every day is a 55 mph road for approx. 20 miles with 3 stops along the way...I get 17-17.5 mpg driving to work. I have got has high as 19.5 on a road trip with the family.

While towing my camper usually 6-7000 pounds, mileage drops to 12-13.

But as a previous poster said, while towing it drinks DEF like crazy.

thanks for the replies. sounds like diminishing returns and id just be paying ~30k for a little less mileage and little bigger cab. maybe ill just get a camper. and some hookers. and some blow. and a new custom rifle and go on a guided hunt. instead.

Ok but won't you need a quad cab to haul the hookers? Nevermind I get it, that's what the campers for.
