Well my son bought his first beast. 72 K5 blazer. Started working it over and I can clearly see the nickels and dimes going out the window. Anybody on here run an auto parts store. Would rather spend money with local MMers than back east
Thanks

I had one of those... I always liked the 67-72 chevys.. I can't help with any local connections but I always liked dealing with

http://www.lmctruck.com/ and http://www.gspp.com/

Rockauto.com is what I have used and parts are very reasonable. On my sons truck we also use quite a few use parts from salvage yards.

'72 K5 very popular. This one will get expensive. A buddy had one rebuilt he's in it $12,000 and climbing.

Had a 73 in high school, hated that the removable top went all the way to the windshield, every time it rained the rain would come in through that seam and soak the cab.

If you are anywhere close to Idaho Falls, look these guys up:

They will ship too and would be able to get you everything you needed.

Don't know of the Blazers so much but 70-72 4X4 Chey shortbed pickups bring major dollars once fixed up. My buddy has been offered 25K for his. Pretty cool rigs and a Blazer job ought to be nice as well.

Look around and see who's driving similar classic rigs. Chances are you may meet a guy down the street with a lot of what you may need.

Thanks guys. I'll check into those.
This blazer is a monster. It will drive miles straigt down the road without touching the wheel . 3/4 axles with new 35 inch tires and wheels.
New 350 and tight tranny. But whoever over the last forty years of this truck have cobbled up the wiring so bad. So we gutted every single wire out of it. Started with a complete new wiring harness. It has everything clear to the factory taillight ends . This should eliminate most of its problems.
This is cool because fixing this up gets that kid off the x box some and he is learning a few skills that may take him somewhere. Auto mechanic body work stereo installs. Welding and mostly just pride of doing something for himself.

Very cool DRHORNHUNTER.. Getting a kid out of the house and building/restoring a vehicle is very rewarding for the both of you.. One thing that is definately worth the money to replace on those trucks is the window felts and glass channels, gets rid of the window rattling and makes it feel much newer driving down the road..
