I HAVE A 2C LATE ARCHERY DEER TAG. GETTING SOME REALLY BAD REPORTS ABOUT THE HUNT. TAG HOLDERS FROM 2008 & 2009 SAID DONT EVEN GO DOWN. I AM HUNTING THE FIRST WEEK REGARDLESS OF WHAT THEY SAY. ANYBODY HAVE ANY INFO? THANKS FOR ANY HELP!

WTH?? I would love to have that tag!!!!! There are some huge bucks in that unit. The only way I can see that being a bad hunt is if you expect to drive up to one and get out of the truck and stick it. Get off the road and there are some monsters there.

Maybe they were talking about the roads. That is about all that sucks about that unit. Great unit for deer, but the raods go to hell if it gets wet. Whoever was telling you not to go is screwing with you...........

Have a friend that has hunted that tag and can get you the inside scoop. Will pm you his email address. If you dont know how to use PMs let me know.

Went with a friend last year on that hunt. You won't see many deer but there are some really nice bucks. Most the bucks we saw were on the edges of the steep box canyons. If you glass you will find them.

I think your CAPS LOCK button is STUCK. That aside, focus on the NE corner of your unit. The old portion of 2B is the best bet. Look around Iron Spring next to the Indian Reservation. Definitely one of the best hunts in the state for a trophy quality animal. Good luck, don't let this one go to waste!

The deer are there but it can be a tough hunt for those that don't know the area. Not a lot of deer and they don't like to show themselves to people in trucks. If there is snow, the NE part of the unit will be overrun with lion hunters.

WOW! Thanks for the "pick me up". I thought this was a good tag. I planned on hunting in the NE part of the area. I don't expect it to be an easy hunt, but I hoped for some good bucks. Thank all of you guys for for your help!

LAST EDITED ON Dec-22-10 AT 11:25AM (MST)[p]Check your PM box. I left my phone number for you to call me. I have hunted up there 2 times in Jan. in the last 3 years.

bigramdown,

Maybe we will see you there. We are headed down New Year's Eve to hunt the first week.

Kill a big one and post pics.

I work out there in the 2C unit. You should have a real good hunt.Roads are extremly muddy due to all the rain we have had so be prepared for that.Bucks were still chasing as of last week so hopefully they will still be going for the bow hunt.I will be out there helping out my uncle who has the same hunt..

Good Luck

Thanks for the info. Should I bring mud tires or a/t's with chains? Good luck to you guys. Thanks again!

If you have good mud tires, I would definetly bring them, but if not a/t's with chains should be good to.Make sure and not to forget a tow strap or shovels.

I have new mudders, just did'nt really want to drive 600 miles on ice packed roads with them. Our roads are solid ice & my mudders suck. probably a real good idea to have have them down there though. Thanks for the "heads up"

Went out today and the roads are in real bad shape. It would prolly be a good idea to take your mudders, the ruts are very deep.It was also snowing out there today, with more snow supposed to be coming in the middle of the week.So the roads prolly wont get better by the hunt.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-27-10 AT 04:39PM (MST)[p]I coyote hunted there Yesterday. I saw a couple of small bucks and some cow elk. The roads are fu@$#d! Bring shovels, chains, winch, and a friend with german glass who is proficient in hand signals. Bowhunt should be fun, the bucks I saw were still horny.

Thanks a whole bunch for the info. Getting excited now. You guys have been a big help. Looks like I am going solo though.

lchc, yes I did. Good info, thanks. Looks like you guys had some deep snow. I don't think it is that way this year...yet. Pictures look good, thanks again.
