LAST EDITED ON Feb-24-18 AT 01:19PM (MST)[p]I have Never asked for a specific unit suggestion but since this is a Cow Elk Hunt I figured I'd give it a shot. Due to an ongoing health condition it looks like my days of going after Bulls hard in the high country may be over.
I am thinking of burning my points next year on a ?easier? Cow Hunt and getting out of the point game. It looks like I have enough points to draw any Cow Hunt in the state ( 8 points and I will be averaging them with a friend who has none so he can help with the pack out ).
I am looking at possibly unit 30 or 100 but will go anywhere in the state. It will have to be a ?lower? elevation with moderate terrain area and hoping to see a lot of Elk with high success preferably in a unit with few tags issued. Would be willing to pay reasonable access fee to private but would prefer a public Hunt. I am looking at this as a opportunity to just have a fun with a friend who has never shot a Elk while possibly hunting one of the better Elk units in Wyoming.
Any info would be appreciated

Unit 100 would fit your needs well. Basically an antelope style hunt for elk.
Good luck with your future hunts

I'd suggest buying 1 PP, then applying for the unit 30 type 4 tag. Little more money for a cow tag, but it would be a guaranteed tag based off previous years draw odds. Do you want an extra $200 in your pocket, or to have a tag in your pocket??

Sorry to read about your health Bruce.
Damn the luck

Go unit 7 and then get a permission slip for the Wagonhound as they let you stay in a very kool private cabin on the ranch and they provide a guide for you.

Keep the faith man and get well soon

Robb

Thanks Robb and everyone else who responded.
I'll know more in the next few months what the long term affects will be and that will determine what I do. I have enough points to draw good Elk tags in Colorado and Arizona so I'll give them a go regardless, way to much invested without giving it a shot.

Good luck and my prayers are with ya man! I know they work based on what I just went through a couple months ago with the big C.
