2018 nr elk

Is the draw dates the same for elk as last year or did they move them to May?

Says on the Wyoming Game and Fish website that they will update the application stuff in mid December and that they will open for accepting applications January 2.
I couldn't find anything so far about the draw dates for either residents or non-residents in 2018.

I really hope they keep it that way. I like having the Wyoming elk draw results done before I worry about applying in other states.

You and a lot of people would like it to stay that way, but it's really not fair when the G&F hasn't completed it's winter/spring surveys and established definite LQ totals for the various LQ units.

I agree Topgun. I also wish they could get the access yes properties set up before the draw so access for a given area is known before applications are due.

That would definitely help a person decide where to apply, rather than guessing and hoping that all the places that were in it the previous year are still in it.

Still the early draw for 2018, but I hear more and more talk of it changing. It unnecessarily causes more man hours of work, causes issues with new license types and issues with changes in license types(NR last year applied in one area that the Commission changed and was no longer valid) On top of all this, it violates the Administrative Procedures Act in Wyoming. No one has sued as of yet though.

The most ridiculous excuse for having it, is the "I know if I drew in Wyoming early" excuse. But it will change, sooner or later.
