2017 NR elk draw

Wondering if there is a group of 4 NR that would like to draw a general elk tag this year, but do not have the necessary points? I have a solution.
 
I maybe interested depending on unit/hunt (I haven't researched any units in Wyoming so I would have to start).

I have 1 point.

i would want a hunt where I have decent odds finding a 300" bull or better.

I can fill a general bull tag with a small bull every year and a cow elk every other in Utah so wouldn't want to drive up and shoot a spike or 200" bull being my expected target size.

Would just be myself.
 
I was not clear enough. I am looking for 4 NR guys that are looking to put in the Special draw for a general tag that have 0-1 points. I am not going, nor do the guys have to actually be a group, just that I would apply them as a group. 4 guys in the special draw would cost $4284. If I did it it would be $3955....
 
Please tell us how you're going to get anyone a discount on the G&F license and application fee mandated by Wyoming law unless you intend to pay the difference of $329 yourself.

That makes no sense at all when in the Regular Draw the odds for 2016 with 1PP was only 8.02% and with <1PP it was 0! If the Special Draw stays anywhere near like it was in 2016 anyone applying with 1PP will draw a license at 100%, as there were still over 300 tags available after they drew their tag and it dropped to the <1PP pool! I also have no idea how you came up with that money savings of $329 when a license for each NR person costs more than $400 more in the Special Draw compared to the Regular one. Would you like to fully explain where you're coming from on this thread or am I not correct that you made mistakes in your math?

The guy that I would put in with them has 10 points, so the group would have an average of 2 points and would draw in the regular draw all things staying the same. The guy that has the 10 points walked away from a OIL Oryx tag and never paid me the $1610 tag fee. Gave me all of his points as "payment". His deer and antelope points are already spoken for.

I'm still shaking my head at your $329 comment though. You say the guy gave you all of his antelope, deer, and elk PPs and now you're going to apply his name with those others to use his 10 PPs to get them their tags with a 2PP average. PS: I wish BuzzH was still on the site because I can just see the scathing comments he would make about your proposal and point averaging!
 
I am still waiting for someone to chime in about that (BuzzH) as well, but to each his own. The difference in $$$ stems from the $1610 my guy (business partner btw) stiffed me plus the $120 I put in last year to keep the points up. I am into this for $1730 as of now. The 4 guys regular tags + my guys regular tag (throw away)+ tag application fee equals $3955......AND 4 guys get drawn when they have virtually no chance. I would keep them for myself, except that there is really no limited entry tag in WY that I want. General or any leftover tag is fine by me.

Edit: Okay, after getting your PM and seeing that you are charging each person an application fee along with them paying for the guys tag that will go in the garbage I now see how you will recoup the money you are out. Thanks for the quick PM reply! I have no problem with your plan since it's not illegal, but some probably will and why some residents are against point averaging.
 
Agreed TG....boils down to if there are 4 guys that want draw general elk this year with 0-1 point I can get them drawn AND save them some money in the process.
 
I really appreciate this post delmag. It's going to become the "poster child" for getting rid of point averaging!
 
The best news I have heard is that the little guy got banned. He has taken his little fit to another site though. Delmag is a good guy, wishing I was in his deer and antelope plans though!!!!

I doubt it is going away any time soon. In addition outfitters and tag services do the same thing that I am, however they are doing it for a profit.

I'm scratching my head on that statement too Jeff! I think maybe he means if a bunch would point average like what he's trying to do to recoup his money that more people would draw and pay fees. However, that would really be a fallacy because all they are really doing is jumping ahead of others that would be paying those same fees, so it's really a wash.

The absolute ONLY reason averaging will continue is because of outfitters. Nothing more...
 
I am guessing that none of the approximately 2000 applicants that would have benefited from this are interested in an offer that is truly to good to be true.
 
I would think you would have more success trying to find one person that wants to draw a premium area.

Not interested in burning my antelope tags just yet.
