Planning on applying for tags for next year. This will be our first hunt for lopes. Currently we'll have 4 points going into the draw. Would it be better to get another point and try leftover tags or cash in?

That would be completely up to you and whether you would be satisfied with a unit that can be drawn with a 100% chance with your points. 4 is more than enough points for a good hunt in a lot of units if you do your homework to take advantage of them. The way tags went this year I believe if I were you I would cash in and not try for sloppy leftovers because that's what you might be faced with.

Checkout TopRut.com and punch in your points for antelope and see what units it pulls up that are within your reach. Four points will get you a good unit, not necessarily a great unit. I still believe a good hunt is better than not hunt at all. You can kill a big buck on any unit in the state if you put in the work.
