2012 Turkey Season

Here is my sons 2012 turkey. He shot it opening morning at about 7:00. A 20 yard shot put it down quick. It has a double beard and 1 1/2" spurs. Hunting with your kids is priceless. We hope all you turkey hunters have a great season and good luck. Now its time for a big bear.

We went the night before found the roost. Turkeys came out the wrong direction and headed up the hill. I ended up crawling on chest about 100 yards up hill and got to within 30 yards.

Shot him from 30, he rolled down the hill flopping. Was down about 25 seconds, looked out of corner of my eye he was running up the hill. Shot him again went down 20 more seconds, looked away for sec and he was running up the hill again. Shot 3rd time missed, yelled at dad to shoot he shot hit for 3rd time. Went down was flopping again jumps up running. I never figured I'd have to shoot 3 times so extra turkey load was in pack. I'm sprinting after turkey, stop to dump pack looking for shell, finally find it and he's gone. Searched for hour and a half never found him just a few feathers. Lesson learned go grab turkey once he is on ground and carry extra shells that are easy to reach.
