I have been hunting some really big whitetails this year but ran out of time to get a big one. I had a few chances and blew it. I had a great time this year and enjoyed taking this smaller buck on my last day to hunt. I am already looking forward to next season.

I had a fun archery hunt in CO this year and was able to look at a good number of bucks and even stalk a couple before this one made it easy and gave me a beautiful 30 yard quartering away shot.

A friend of a friend had a non-resident cow tag and needed someone to hunt with so we made a deal that if a cow came in he'd shoot, and if a bull came in I'd shoot. A bull came in but didn't present a shot. This female calf did though, and he made the most of it.

I had a good time on a high country Utah ML hunt too. I watched through the spotting scope as a buddy killed his 1st big game animal, which is as good as pulling the trigger! I found a buck I liked and got within range twice, but never got a shot.

Another buddy had a 2nd rifle season tag in an area that can be tough public land hunting, but we were able to find this mature 3 point.

This was one of those pics that accidentally turned out awesome from the UT ML hunt.

I had a great season and can't wait for next year.

I didn't get to do my CO mule deer hunt since my wife was due with out 2nd in Nov and actually had him on 11/2. I did get to bow hunt here in TX and got this deer on my 7th straight day of hunting, free range, low fence. Shot him at 27 yards. I might as well add - for those of you wondering, I was not hunting a feeder.

Having a new 6 month old my wife didn't hunt this year.

I drew my first antelope tag in 16 years. After a lot of scouting I found a spot that was a sure thing. I got this antelope with my Hot Rod Renegade. The load was 80 gr of Pyrodex P with a paper patched 500 S&W bullet. The shot was 89 yards. Ron

LAST EDITED ON Nov-28-10 AT 09:30AM (MST)[p]I hope to kill a good buck on the wasatch in the next 2 days...but if not, I have only killed one big game animal this fall. When I drew a Utah LE elk tag all other plans took a back seat. The whole story pics and vid are on my blog. It was an awesome experience....

Here is a video of the bull on the ground;

Here is my 2010 Utah Achery buck. Its my second year of the Utah dedicated hunter program and I killed a nice 140" 4x4 buck last year on rifle portion of my tag so this year wanted to be selective and get a nice velvet buck with my bow. I spent the entire spring and early summer scouting my area and had some nice bucks picked out. Ended up taking this buck on September 1st of my archery elk/Deer quest. He gave me a 63 yard shot and My Hoyt Maxxis 31 and SureLoc sportsmans special did the rest.

Took this whitetail on the opening day of rifle season. I hunted all of archery and muzzle loader season for a mature buck. I had seen this buck 2 times before the day I shot him. 145". Sorry these are pictures of pictures.

not really, I was hoping for a 330 class bull and I think he is right around there. Heck, when I shot I was thinking he was 300.....

I will get him scored when I get him back from the taxi.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-28-10 AT 04:35PM (MST)[p]I finally drew my LE elk tag after 25 years of trying. Hunted hard for 14 days before sitting a wallow Sept 3rd to take a rest day. After 10 hours in the stand I had this nice bull come in and wallow for me before I shot him. A thirty five yard shot with the Mathews had him down in 38 yards and 15 seconds! It couldn't have been a more heaven sent hunt and bull to show for my 25 year wait.

My best buck yet. Been trying to kill a buck like this for a long time.

Had my son and good hunting buddy Kevin with me. Could not have been a better day.

Got one of my biggest piggies in early 2010. Put the sneak on him and shot him at about 75 yards probably a few minutes after shooting light, but you can shoot pigs 24/7/365 in Texas. This guy had THICK body armor. My 7mm Mag didn't make a pass through from 75 yards with a broadside shot.

pig2_pic.jpg

Pretty decent cutters on him.

pig2_tusks.jpg

And a pic of his body armor. It isn't fat, it is almost like a rubber floor mat.

My Wyoming General Tag elk. Shot on opening morning at 125 yards coming in silent to check out a cow call. We had agreed that any legal bull would get shot before we started the hunt.

n_elk1.jpg

My buddies Wyoming General Tag elk taken on the 4th day of the hunt. We had this guy talking for over an hour as we dogged him and my buddy shot him the first time he saw him and we later ranged it at 37 yards.

The highlight of my year by far. My DIY New Mexico Elk. He scored right at 310" which isn't a monster for most folks, but he is by far the biggest elk of my life so far.

My New Mexico Mule Deer. This guy didn't score all that great (just 147"), but he was a mature buck and I was happy with him. Very tall unique rack.

Still have a shot at a Texas Whitetail and I missed out on my New Mexico Antelope hunt, but overall probably my most successful hunting season ever. For sure some of my success can be attributed to information and knowledge gleaned from this board.

If you want to check out more detailed information on my big game hunts this year I have a thread going in the hunt adventure challenge that has a novel posted on each hunt.

My first Coue?s archery whitetail. Shot him at 40 yards from a tree stand. I grunted him in from 200 yards. He left his girls and came straight in.

My Az. archery DIY Elk. Got on him early morning out in front of him coming down into a deep canyon where I stalking a different bull. He gave me a Sharp quartering to me shot at 15 yards. I drilled him and he went 45 yards and pile up.

2010 final tally:

1 cow elk (with a bow)
1 bear (freakin' AK toad)
1 antelope buck (14 incher)
1 antelope doe
1 whitetail buck (4x4)
5 whitetail does
1 turkey (with a bow)

In addition I was with my wife when she took a nice pronghorn and her best mule deer, and the last weekend of the season I did a push for my buddy that resulted in him killing a big 4x4 non-typ whitey we have seen since 2006. We donated 6 deer and an antelope.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-01-10 AT 04:20PM (MST)[p]Two Utah limited entry tags for me in 2010, and a very loving but frustrated wife due to a lot of money spent on taxidermy not to mention the cost of the hunts. Turkey was 22.6 lbs with a 9 1/2" beard and 1 3/8" spurs. Bull was a 340 class 6X7.
