I havent posted any pics for awhile but i have enjoyed viewing the awesome shed photos on this site so i thought i would add some of my own.
This year I have been fortunate to find a respectable set off of a deer, an elk and a moose all in my home state of Utah. I didnt make a goal of that in the beginning of the year...it just kinda happened.
First off was the elk sets. I went to a favorite spot in the Fishlake National Forest on Saturday, April 8th and was lucky enough to find two sets for the day. The white set was laying maybe 30 yards apart and is a 330 class bull. The brown set was about 75 yards apart and is a 300 class bull.
As they lay:
Back at the truck (always a good feeling with 5 elk sheds on your back):
Two weeks later i was back in my elk shed spot and came across something i wouldnt have guessed i would find...a nice set of deer sheds. The antlers had been there a couple of years and are just under 180 inches. This unit is a general season southern region deer unit...it shows there are still a few good ones around (i did pick up a brown 93" horn in a different general season unit in southern utah as well this spring, but could not match the set)
As they lay:
The set:
Then the slam became complete last weekend. I hiked into a bowl i had watched this moose in a couple of times back in January not expecting to find anything...but you never know. I topped out over the rise and bingo!! there was a side laying there visible from 200 yards away. I was lucky to find the other one the same day (it was almost dark when i stumbled on it) but sometimes it works out. I had my first moose set, and a set off of the three antlered animals in Utah all in less than a months time.
Thanks again for looking...also thanks again Browtine for hosting the pics...everybody go check out his site.
Peace,
RPinenut
