173N Ram Tag - starting points requested

I'm helping my very fortunate buddy who drew the 173N wilderness tag for a ram. We will be going into the wilderness and plan on starting our scouting where NDOW recommends. Just curious if anyone has spent time in that country and can provide some additional information regarding sheep habits, where to look, and size expectations. I can trade of information on antelope, deer, elk and sheep in other units in NV.

Congratulations on going sheep hunting.
NDOW info is pretty accurate. I would do what they say. Maybe call and talk to your Biologist personally also. Ask him if and when he’s going to fly it and talk to him just after the flight if you can.
Also dig into the NDOW website and find the kill locations and ram sizes for that unit. It’s all there.
We hunted 181 last year and if 173 is anything like Last year in 181 the sheep weren’t really even using the drinkers. Apparently they were getting enough water from their feed.
This year does seem drier than last year at this point in time so water may be more of a factor this year.
NDOW does manage their sheep really well, so there should be plenty of rams to hunt.
