Well I was kinda shocked when I woke up and started getting ready for work last Friday when I realized I drew my Nevada antlered elk tag!! It's oct 22 to nov 5, just in the planning stages now trying to get any information before I go down and scout would love any information on that area I will try and post this hunt as it goes along from scouting to the actual hunt but I am starting to get really excited should be an adventure!!

My buddy drew this tag as well. Lots of good elk in that unit. A lot will depend on the weather but more than likely the bulls will be up high. Rut will be done by then probably, and minus getting feet and feet of snow go as high as you can then go antother 1000 feet higher. Elk behavior will be completely different from when you scout to when you hunt unless you scout within a week of your hunt. It's big country so if you have horses you will want to use them. Pm me if you want a little more detail.

I saw a game warden hauling a 6x6 out of the area along NFD 18 (basically the border between 172-173) a few miles south of the valley that was killed west of the road. The thing must have been a beast.

If you come in from the south starting at Tonopah, there is a great spot to camp with a rock surounding. It will be right off the road to the west. I forgot to mark it on my maps. Wish I had I'll be up there in August looking for mule dear.
