11 points for Region H tag?

Someone with knowledge of where to hunt it...200+ is very possible with the right knowledge. Has a resident friend, can hunt wilderness etc.... many reasons why someone would do that.

LAST EDITED ON Jun-22-17 AT 06:26PM (MST)[p]Someone who knows the winter was hard on the fawns and in a few years there will be a big hole in the age class. Additionally, point accumulation and tag fees just got more expensive in Wyoming so they wanted off the ride.....Or someone who knows they aint getting any younger and region H does hold some big bucks.

Or that aunt or uncle with no intent to hunt someone puts in just to share points with..... or an old person figuring on one last hunt with kids/grandkids..

My vote says it's "some guy who has been putting his non-hunter wife in for the last 11 years so he and his buddies can get drawn sooner."

Except that the allocation was an individual app.

"200+ is very possible"...??? I don't know about that "very" part. Possible, maybe, but "very"? I'm going to have to disagree. Only a few places on this planet where a 200+ is "very" possible.

Someone that wants to hunt now!! And I think worth every point. I'm a res so don't Worry about points and hunt H every year. Some big bucks to be had!!!!

Some people don't need to pay you to find them a buck. I know multiple people who find a 200+ buck every year in H because they have hunted it for years and put in the time, doesn't mean they kill them every year. Just because you don't find any doesn't mean they aren't there.

Regarding the 200+ very possible statement..

I've seen 6 bucks in my life I'm positive were 200+, a few were taken confirming this. One in AZ (13A), One in MT on private land in 2003, and 4 in Wyoming (2000 and 2007). One day in August of 2007 (region H)I saw 3 bucks together, the smallest was a heavy typical in the 180 range. The other 2 bucks dwarfed him. The middle buck was 200 with ease and the larger was scary huge. Oddly enough, I was in a place that I saw guys on quads only a half mile from the deer. Region H is worth 11 points I'd think to the right person.

I've seen some in the 190's in H, but haven't yet seen a 200. I'm sure there are a few around though.
I'd still say that for 11 points, G is the better option. Maybe the guy knows of a whopper, is going with a guide or just did like Robb. Who knows? Whoever it is will probably go up there a get a beast.

Curious Founder (off topic), but do you believe the Utah Paunsaugunt to be one of those magical areas where it is "very" possible to achieve 200"?

No!!! I spent about 30 days on the Paunsaugunt in 2012 and found a couple 190ish. There are a few in the unit each year, but "very" possible to get one, no.
Antelope Island is a place where it's "very" likely you could get a 200 incher.

Dang. Utah was good to me with the Pauns archery tag this year. It'll be awesome no matter what, but a 200" brute is something I've yet to lay eyes on with a tag in my pocket.

Like any place, go scout and know where a big is. I'll tell you though, in 2012 I found a big one during the summer and saw him the night before the hunt opened, 2 miles away. He moved. Never saw him again after that.
Another big one I found was still in the same spot.
People get lucky from time to time and get big ones. And some with a bow.

Sorry all for hijacking the thread and getting off topic.
