LAST EDITED ON May-01-08 AT 09:23PM (MST)[p]I have been meaning to post these for some time so it seems appropriate now as someone out there is holding these tags. We went the last week of September.
The water holes had a lot of suspended silt in them because of all of the rain storms. We tried to let the water bottles sit but the silt would not settle out. You can see in the first picture that we tried to pre-filter with a chamois, it helped a little. In the next picture you can see the final product, it looks like orange juice in the bottle. We drank that water for two days. During our next water gathering session a major rain storm hit, we lucked out and were able to get some "clean" water. We gorged ourselves after all of the bottles were filled. The next picture is of the hunter I was with (a friend's uncle). He did not bring a tent because he wanted to cut down on weight. We rolled him up like a burrito and he toughed it out as we received over an inch of rain that night. He said he did not sleep a wink as the rain pelted the tarp over his face. We did not see any good rams, but I did get some footage of 5 small rams and some ewes (they returned later in the hunt and filled). This is the second time I have been on this hunt and it is an epic experience and I was not the hunter either time.
