Northern Utah 130% of normal. We have had melt off on south slopes. Over all I think we are OK for most deer and elk. Last year was terrible. Numbers way down.

I don't think there are many studies on predator harassment on hard winters, like last year. Deer and elk were tipping over and Lions and coyotes were harassing them all winter in deep snow. Much of this had to contribute to winter mortality. Not enough nutrition and fat reserves to survive...

Was there trauma consistent with elk hooves?

Hunted Unit 45 rifle this year with a friend. Burned 14 points. Heard good reports from past years. Saw one broke 6 point and raghorns. Very disappointed in the hunt. Not many elk, high, low, or mid range. Same report from other local hunters. Some general elk units were better. Wondering...

Have not hunted yet general deer on the Cache, because I know what deer we have and what quality. It was a hard winter.

I guess it will gather data and allow still hunting. We need to recruit more does and fawns, bottom line. Hopefully predators kills and poaching won't increase. Should also have mandatory harvest report.

Central and southern Utah maybe good for antler growth. Northern Utah well below normal and more winter kill elk last year than I can remember according to pictures, trail cams, and hunter and outfitter feedback.
