WYGF stiffs NR, then begs them for $

The only begging going on in WY is NRs (like me) hoping I'm lucky enough the state will keep the money I've sent them. Anyone familiar with supply/demand will recognize WY doesn't have to beg anyone. They can 'print' money with tag fee increases anytime they want.

A new Director for Game and Fish? Good or a battle?

I'm sure there are some - but I can't recall a single successful example of an 'outsider' to a G&F Department Director position working out well in the handful of western States I've tracked over the years. I think it is critical they have the knowledge/experience/culture of the State's...

Auctioning access to hunt private land

There is no shortage of demand for private land hunting access. Why would they need a commissioner's tag to cover administrative costs? I would think they could cover it with auction proceeds. Furthermore, this would seemingly compete with state access programs - and isn't there already a...

    HB 484

I don't think this is new language...I believe its from several years ago and all it did was given the commission authority to adopt a points system if they thought it was advisable. I think even the dumbest of folks, looking at all the other states, can now agree these ponzi schemes are a...

Thoughts on new Special license fees

I'm more interested in the guesses for higher demand hunts. Seems very predictable that marginal/poor access/lower quality hunts will definitely mean fewer special apps...but is the special fee enough to reduce special apps for higher demand units/hunts...those taking 10, 15+ points? Or will...

    Anyone know Aram Von Benedikt?

Completely agree. He should have stopped his own pursuit and helped her...or at minimum just left to go hunt a deer someone had not already shot. What a cluster...not a deer in the world I'm going to do any of the BS this clown Aram did. I'm betting about right now he wishes he had just tipped...

45” wide monster buck killed yesterday

Your lack of response, perhaps based on advice from legal counsel, sure indicates you, your dad, and others were involved in illegal activity to harvest this buck. It is looking more like the 'hunting community' is who should be sad with you, your dad, WLH etc.

    Big Game Draw

IDFG has posted no July 10 date for results...not in their regs or their website. They used to...but not anymore. Lot of factors would suggest it will be this week. If they don't post until the 14th...there had to be a series of catastrophic events.

    2023 Cc hits post.

To be fair...they've said May 31st in many prior drawings...and results were delivered by mid-May...so maybe misleading repeatedly in the past is why folks are unhappy May 31 actually means May 31 this year? Also - you can call it impatient anxiety, but there are plenty of legitimate and...

Seems like they would want to minimize the time between card update opportunity and the draw...I mean if they shut off card updates last week...and don't draw for another week...that many more issues to potentially fix. I think they are just sticking to the party line and results could start...

In the other thread I think someone pointed out that as long as this link is still valid to update your cc, the draw has not happened: https://www.utah-hunt.com/UDWRCcUpdate_M/ I believe they said once the cc update link goes dead - cards start getting hit the next business day? So, best case...

50 less NR tags in G

I'm not moving, just sparked discussion per a few folks I loosely know who have become WY residents. I concur with your assessment, but I'm not knowledgeable on WY laws related to residency. Would seem a bit absurd to literally interpret it as not being able to leave...which was my point. It...

Raffles illegal in Utah? But see Huntin Fool, Epic Outdoors

Very possible. An audit could be informative...and while they are super specific on details to make free entries hard; I'd question how legal that is to have such a different standard for paid tickets. I'm sure they had lawyers look at it...but if I can just put my name/number on a ticket in...

Raffles illegal in Utah? But see Huntin Fool, Epic Outdoors

I believe both offer an option to obtain free tickets...I know for sure huntin fool does. If you'd rather skip out on paying $25 per ticket just mail them some index cards with the information they request. That I believe is how they get around the 'raffle' laws. Bottom line...anyone actually...

50 less NR tags in G

Guess you clarified the law there...they can be out of state for half the year and still be residents. We can guess which 6 months they bail on! I don't know them well enough to know all their motivations and finances etc. But just found it odd in the span of about a year 3 direct personal...

50 less NR tags in G

From what I know - they do not claim residency in any other state; but they absolutely do not spend the brutal winter/early springs in WY. The one I know best...sharp guy...I'd be surprised if he was breaking any laws. He'll find any loophole in your laws...but he wouldn't break them...I don't...

50 less NR tags in G

I know 3 people with remote jobs from WA state who have done just that...they skip the winter part though. I've not personally looked at residency requirements, but these 3 are R's of WY for hunting and tax purposes...and they do not spend winters any where near wyoming.

CO wildlife commission meeting last week

Why is the 15 point person entitled to a couple hunts? If they have 15 points they can use them to get a tag in a 2-3 point unit...or a 10 point unit...I don't see why they should be entitled to multiple hunts in consecutive years.

CO wildlife commission meeting last week

Point systems are a ponzi scheme - so when bureaucrats start poking around with ways to 'improve' the fraud I tend to be skeptical. I definitely hope they do not adopt point banking. If they are going to tweak anything, I would prefer they look at options to provide some random opportunity -...

    Kiling off Idahos deer!

I don't have any hope this will eradicate or stop CWD spread...but I do think it could give us more years of additional time before it shows up elsewhere.

    Kiling off Idahos deer!

I don't oppose the targeted reduction in 14/slate cr. I think given the lack of detection elsewhere - keeping densities as low as possible is warranted. If/as it spreads across Idaho - I likely would not support efforts to reduce populations on a region/statewide basis.

Another slice of the hunting pie?

They will apply to any public lands not put to a use inconsistent with hunting (United States v. Hicks, 587 F. Supp. 1162 (W.D. Wash. 1984)). Basically...any public land you or I can hunt...they would be able to exercise treaty rights. It won't be an apocalypse for hunting in Wyoming...but...

WY Residents...time to cut a deal?

Rather than 90/5/5 - what about 90/10 and increasing NR Regular tag fees (say by 25%)...and then that extra pool of money is handed out as cash/welfare to outfitters? This puts guaranteed/no risk money in outfitters pockets (which is what they want), protects NR DIY hunters by keeping all...

WY Residents...time to cut a deal?

I think Resident's deserve 90/10 in Wyoming...but this outfitter welfare plague needs to be stopped everywhere it can. These guys are thick as thieves, and I despise their commercialization of wildlife across the west. Made me want to throw up when I saw that presentation from all these...

Another slice of the hunting pie?

Justice Gorsuch is well known on treaty and federal indian law matters...he ruled almost exactly as expected. That said, I do agree SCOTUS is a different make-up than when Hererra was decided; however, I expect Roberts and ACB would both respect the courts volumes of prior decisions that...

Another slice of the hunting pie?

Understood. My statement was much broader than the specific legislation...there is a lot of benefit to state-tribal cooperation, and I've seen nothing but a clown show from WY officials/Gov office on working effectively with Tribes post-Hererra. Maybe they've done some good, but I've not seen it.

Another slice of the hunting pie?

I don't know who is advising the WY Governor on these matters, but it would be helpful if he found someone knowledgeable on tribal hunting/treaty issues...because the clowns advising him now are pretty obviously clueless. There is a mutual benefit to state-tribal cooperation - but it will...

WY Residents...time to cut a deal?

Partially agree. But cars don't show up 1-7 days before season and target the better bucks and bulls in prime units that only hand out 50, 100, 200 antlered tags...on a statewide basis it will be a modest impact. On the premium public land units...it will be very noticeable. On these good...
