Im heading to 444 for archery. How were the roads along the south side of 444 by the border?

Thanks that’s what I was expecting. Trying to cut some time e-scouting and making a radius around the trail to try and stay outside if possible

The unit I am in has quite a few trails through it. It feels pretty safe to assume that hikers etc will have deer pushed off the trails a bit. How far do you find that pushes deer on average? I’m sure it’s different everywhere you go.

I am too! Just thinking about what I have available and alternative hunt styles. I feel like I will likely have to do some still hunting and maybe ambush. I know whitetail have learned to look up but not sure about mulies. I can for sure pack in my platform and climbing sticks much easier than...

There is not much above treeline. Mostly timber looks like. Above would be ideal but that just cut out 95% of the unit.

Oh I think my expectations are pretty realistic in that regard. Archery mule deer is hard period. If I kill one it will be blind luck likely…thankfully it’s an either sex tag too

In Colorado unit 444. Any advice would be welcome but totally understand not wanting to blow something up

I’m right at 1100 miles away from the unit I’m in with a 7 month old kiddo and the wife works retail. Boots on the ground is unfortunately out as much as I would love to go. I’m just e scouting and training until the week I’m off to go in Sept.

I think I am set gear wise. Binos, rangefinder, and spotter w/tripod. HOWEVER 3-400 yards isn't possible....Because it's an archery hunt, why not make it as hard as possible.

Finally put on my big boy pants and applied this year and drew a tag in unit 444. Pretty excited about it! Looking forward to picking up as much knowledge as possible. Is there any reading you recommend? I have Mule deer country by Geist I am going to start shortly.
