Ask a guide. Clay Buddy, Arizona Strip Guides, Shadow Valley Outfitters, A3, Highpoint Outfitters and some names that come to mind.

    I'M CALLIN BS!!!

There is a study out there someplace I’ve seen. Pronghorn were measured and aged. Can’t recall where it was done, but it’s been a while ago. The max avg. horn length was 2 ish years old, max score was 2-3 years old, iirc. Matched pretty well with the info from B&C.

Need help with a very good problem to have

As I understand it, you’d still loose your points if you drew that first choice in the random part of the draw. 25% of the tags go there. The sure bet is points first choice and W. OR. General Deer tag.

    Caliber for elk/mule deer

300 WM will certainly do the job. If you are seeking magnums, a 7mm Rem Mag would give similar results with a little less recoil. 6.5PRC would be another magnum like performer with moderate recoil. For me a 7mm-08 checks a lot of boxes. As would most 6.5’s, 270’s, 7mm’s.

Solar: Coming to a Winter Range Near You!

Get on the BLM site and send comments. I expressed concern about Sage Grouse, Big Game winter range and migration corridors. My understanding is these solar farms are fenced in, which makes it a big deal for game movement.

Taker or No? How wide and what does he score?

I shoot and yes there was plenty of time to set up and kill him at 300. Not hung up on exact #’s, but he was big enough looking I’d not have hesitated.

Your Favorite Method of Hunting? (Poll)

I grew up with a rifle in my hands. Simply totally comfortable with one and don’t want to spend the time to become and stay proficient with a bow. I also just enjoy shooting.

Some Big Money At The WSF This Year WOW!!!!

You are correct. I’ve written off the extra paid over market value many times for over 30 years. For SS!, the market value is not what it goes for at auction. For IRS purposes, it’s what you paid over what you would have paid if you drew the tag in the state draw.

    Willamette Unit Question - Antlerless

Some public in the north end, not sure about access. Some timber company land far north and far south, you’d have to check with them about access. I’d also contact any large nursery’s, some of them get deer damage and may allow access. A call to the ODFW may get you a lead. Good luck.

    Anyone know Aram Von Benedikt?

I’d like to put a radio collar on these Von Benedikt characters so they are easy to avoid in the field. Too many chit shows seem to follow them around. Dikt’s both it seems.

    Rifle actions

Browning X bolt is another one different from both of yours if you are looking to stay with factory offerings. Tend to be very accurate rifles ime, not too much aftermarket support.

    Roosevelt Elk Hunt Outfitters

Check on Thorp Outdoors. Taylor does hunt Rossies, be worth a contact and see what he has to offer. He has done a good job for a buddy on Columbian Whitetails.

    Meat Processing

There are charts that will show you how long at 142 degrees does the job that just reaching 156 does. Seems like it was around 60-90 minutes. More water may help in avoiding a temperature stall. Should not spoil or cause problems if you used cure. I stuff off my 3/4 hp grinder. Smallest...
