Seems like it’s mostly getting mopped up now. They got some rain yesterday evening so hopefully that helps, sounds like the team that came in is leaving in a couple days and now it’s clean up and restoring the lines to natural. Going up in a few weeks to do some more scouting

Looks like they got a handle on the blue 2 fire. Some evacuations have been lifted and showing 59% contained. Praise the lord nobody lost a home or any valuables.

Ya I guess I have never actually had one in a unit I have tags for in the fall. Kinda bummed they closed off half the access to the mountain until August, might only have two options to get back in there for some scouting trips.

Yes sir I noticed that onx was saying double what everyone else was reporting. They are saying it’s hard to get an accurate estimate with all the smoke. What a bummer, I’m heading up there right now with the kiddos.

Haha ya idk how well he is gonna fair out there, they are more of the sXs road hunting and big trailer kind of hunters. Not sure why he put in for the wilderness, I’m sure they will day hunt 1-3 miles. I definitely wanna go help and check out that unit I have never been in there before.

The time I have spent in 37 has been in the wilderness. Saw deer in the lower country on the way up and saw some bucks way up top in the wilderness but it was as in September, don’t know what happens in October-November. See if you can find the buck, He had a decent frame, not a monster but not...

Ya I ended up getting a 6400. Best pack I could get that I could afford, didn’t really wanna spend 700-900 for a new pack. 6400 should be plenty big for what I do, pretty excited to load it up and hit the mountain.

Ended up getting a stone archer 6400. Basically priced in half and it still had tags, couldn’t beat the price so I jumped on it. Just so happens I drew a wilderness elk tag here in Nm so I’ll be putting it to use all summer leading up to the hunt.

Sorry for your loss. My copper is 10 this coming May and she isn’t getting any faster. She has been with me everywhere since I got her and we have had our share of adventures together, can’t imagine life without her.

Ya we have had great bugling action two years in a row on the first hunts but on the other side of the state. Hoping we encounter the same kind of action but we shall see, like you said, get where the elk aren’t bothered. Lucky for me it’s only a 2 hour drive to the mountain so I’ll be up there...

Man that’s unfortunate hntnfool. I drew the first hunt this year, if they weren’t talking on the second hunt I imagine the first hunt was even worse. Did you guys at least see a lot of elk?? I’m looking forward to my hunt regardless and I’m ready to start my scouting asap.

Great unit. Plenty of elk for everybody and if you do your scouting you won’t have an issue finding elk to hunt, have fun and enjoy it.
